As well as 1:1 coaching, I offer online parent workshops via zoom. All workshops are organised in small groups, which allows greater opportunities for parents to ask questions around a particular theme, in a more informal and relaxed atmosphere. See below for upcoming workshops and dates.

Regulation Workshop Series

This workshop series is perfect if you are looking to better understand how to support your child’s sensory needs, become a sensory detective, learn different sensory triggers, how to support your child during a meltdown and how understanding emotional regulation.

It takes place over 3 workshops, and is a great introduction to supporting your child’s sensory and emotional needs.

Advocating for your child in school

Due to the success of this workshop in September, I will be running another date in October - date to be announced shortly!

A workshop that has been asked for by so many of my Instagram community! How do parents advocate for their child in school? What is the best way to organise a positive and collaborative meeting with the class teacher and/or SEND Coordinator? What is a pupil passport and how to create one for your child. What are reasonable adjustments and who is entitled to them? What do those accommodations look like, and what support can parents expect from mainstream schools? I will also be explaining the importance and difference of brain, movement and sensory breaks, as well as having access to sensory kits in school. Having been a teacher for many years, I will be sharing both personal and professional experiences and advice. You will leave this workshop feelings empowered to advocate for your child in the next school meeting!

29th October - How to support your neurodivergent child before and after school, 8.30pm

The workshops will focus on how to support your child before and after school, exploring a range of regulation ideas and strategies to support your neurodivergent child. I will help parents to create a weekly overview for a sensory diet including sensory play, alerting and calming sensory input, as well as discussing how to plan the right activities in the afternoon and in the lead up to bedtime. The workshop will also cover how to use sensory kits and buffers around challenging parts of the week, mentioned in my sensory regulation workshop, and how these might be used at the weekend to support your child.

This workshop is a stand-alone workshop, but works very well alongside the sensory regulation series.

Regulation Series Part 2: Meltdowns - Thursday 10th October, 8.30pm

In this workshop we will start by looking at the difference between meltdowns, tantrums and shut downs. We will then explore how to support your child in the moment (during a meltdown) including words/phrases that might be helpful, creating a mantra to support you the parent/carer, how and when to discuss challenging behaviours with your child and how best to support their nervous system after a meltdown. I will also discuss how to manage meltdowns in public, what is the meltdown-loop and how to regulate yourself when your child having a meltdown.

Regulation Series Part 3: Emotional Regulation - Tuesday 15th or Thursday 24th October, 8.30pm

What is emotional regulation? What does emotional dysregulation look like? In this workshop we will discuss the pros and cons of using zones of regulation with ND children, age appropriate expectations of child development and understanding the development of self-regulation and the importance of mutual/co-regulation. We also will cover the role of modelling and using explicit regulating language at home as well as helping children to visualise emotions and how feelings move through our bodies There will be lots of practical strategies for helping your child to develop and learn regulation skills as they get older, including how to use books and tv characters to support children as an effective strategy and learning resource.

Regulation Series Part 1: Sensory Regulation - possible date in November if there is enough demand, 8.30pm

An introduction to understanding neurodivergent children’s sensory needs. We will explore sensory triggers, what dysregulation can look like and how it can be missed. I will explain different concepts to better understand how dysregulation is cumulative and the how to keep our children’s sensory cups topped up. The workshop will also have lots of practical strategies to support your child at home, including proprioceptive input and how to incorporate heavy work/deep pressure into each day. Part 1 of the series is meant to be an introduction into how to proactively support your neurodivergent child, and I highly recommend this if you are looking to better understand and support your child’s sensory needs.

How to talk to your neurodivergent child about their diagnosis, Wednesday 20th November, 8.30pm

Another highly requested workshop! How do you start to explain a diagnosis with your child? What does it mean to be autistic or dyslexic? What does an ADHD diagnosis mean? What strategies or ideas will help open up this discussion with your child? The workshop will cover how to explain the neurodivergent brain, their challenges and also your child’s strengths.

Supporting your child at Christmas - Tuesday 12th November, 8.30pm

How can you organise Christmas at home to best support your neurodivergent child? What are some of the big areas that cause dysregulation and how can you manage that and create supportive accommodations at home and in school? (E.g. presents, visitors, outings, excitement and changes to their school timetable). We will also discuss how to set boundaries with family and how to manage different needs with other siblings.

All workshops start at 8.30pm and are hosted online via Zoom. They run for approximately 60-75 minutes.

Workshops are priced at £30.
